Home Care
Continuing to Live at Home
Most adults would prefer to age in place – continue to live in their home – as long as possible. This is not always possible due to health, mobility and other issues, but as the aging population increases, it will become more of a necessity.
There are three categories of enablers for aging in place: technology, home healthcare and home modifications. An individual who elects to stay at home may benefit from one or more of these enablers.

What Does Technology Has To Offer?
Technologies include both active and passive monitoring systems and new applications for smart phones and tablets. Home healthcare is available from an increasing number of services, although many families may provide some measures of healthcare without outside help.
Home Modification For Home Care
Examples of home modifications include: increased lighting, accessible light switches and electrical outlets, additional railings, grab bars, nonskid flooring, a hand-held flexible shower head, walk-in bathtubs, and the removal of throw rugs and clutter.
